The Platform Owner – Power Platform (AI & Apps) is accountable for the strategic direction, governance, and value realisation of Softcat's Power Platform estate. The role ensures the platform delivers measurable business outcomes while remaining secure, scalable, resilient, and commercially optimised. The role does not build solutions. It establishes the principles, standards, and governance required to ensure Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Copilot Studio, and the broader Dynamics 365 Customer Experience estate are used safely, consistently, and effectively across the enterprise. Acting as the single point of accountability for the platform, the Platform Owner defines the roadmap, guardrails, operating model, and performance expectations that enable sustainable growth and innovation.
As The Platform Owner, you'll be responsible for:
- Own and evolve the Power Platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and measurable business value.
- Work in close partnership with Product Squads, ensuring the platform value framework and roadmap priorities are translated effectively into delivery — maintaining strategic coherence without owning sprint-level execution.
- Establish and govern platform principles, architectural guardrails, and approved design patterns, working with Product Squads & Technology Solution Delivery teams to align implementation standards.
- Treat Product Squads and other Platform squads as the platform's internal customers — understanding their needs, removing platform-side blockers to delivery and adoption
- Maintain oversight of platform performance, resilience, and major incident governance.
- Continuously develop platform expertise through certifications and training.
We'd love you to have:
- Proven ability to build and own business cases for shared platform capability — including quantifying indirect value such as cost avoidance, velocity uplift, and risk reduction, and holding prioritisation positions under stakeholder pressure.
- Deep working knowledge of Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Copilot Studio) including governance design — DLP policies, environment strategy, CoE toolkit — and the ability to track and respond to Microsoft's evolving roadmap. A strong understanding of Copilot Studio and Microsoft's AI capabilities is essential: this role is expected to actively identify where AI can add value, shape how it is implemented responsibly, and sponsor the development of agents and automated workflows as a core part of the platform's value proposition.
- Demonstrable experience working with Dynamics 365 Sales or Customer Experience — not just Power Platform in isolation. This organisation uses Power Platform in close conjunction with D365 CE and Sales, and the Platform Owner must be able to empathise with end users, understand how Microsoft's CRM roadmap affects capability decisions, and work credibly alongside functional consultants and product teams operating in this space.
- Commercial and licensing literacy — able to challenge vendor conversations, optimise spend, and manage Microsoft licensing models in a complex enterprise environment.
