The Technology function at Softcat is responsible for delivering a range of technology solutions to our customers across three main IT priorities: Hybrid Infrastructure, Digital Workspace and Cyber Security. Softcat's Technology Team are responsible for the strategy that creates, shapes, and influences the right products, services and solutions required by our broad range of customers across multiple markets.

Does your current role see you collaborating with senior business leaders and subject-matter experts in developing a technology strategy?

The Technology Director will play a pivotal role in the development of Softcat's Technology strategy and future growth, setting the technical direction for the evolution of the skills, capabilities, and service offerings we have in the business. You'll ensure the business is able to prioritise the necessary product and service investments to deliver a relevant and aligned proposition to customers and vendors.

Forming part of the Softcat Leadership team, the Technology Director will represent a combined view of technology opportunities across multiple stakeholders from sales, services, customers, and partners.

You'll also be responsible for:

• Connecting a technology strategy to our Sales and Services teams through strong collaboration with peers in each area
• Developing, delivering and communicating the technology strategy at Softcat in support of our key priorities
• Providing a customer-centric approach for stakeholders (including CxO), designing/implementing best-in-class IT solutions and services, supporting sales
• Being a technology evangelist for our customers in support of sales; representing Softcat at industry events
• Reviewing our existing propositions and identify opportunities for development or optimisation
• Leading, managing and supporting technical personnel within the team and providing mentorship across our technology community

What we need from you

• Outstanding business acumen; track record of technology, digital and innovation leadership in complex distributed businesses
• Fully commercial approach with first class engagement skills at senior stakeholder, executive, supplier levels
• A previous Technology Director or senior technologist background, with a network of senior level industry contacts
• Ability to operate as a technology evangelist to customers and the technology industry, presenting at vendor/industry events
• Excellent oral and written communication around collaboration of our propositions and sales collateral; strong presentation skills
• Leadership and passion to develop individuals and teams working across departments to deliver specific outcomes
