Your Role

As an Application Support Develop you will join our IT Systems Team as we look to take our existing practices, solutions and use of technology to the next level. You will be providing application support across a range of database, middleware and web solutions that underpin critical areas such as Sales, Finance, Operations and Service Management.

The purpose of the Application Support Developer is to ensure an exceptional customer experience for Softcat’s IT system users by swiftly and effectively responding to and resolving IT System incidents, events, requests and queries. This includes investigating and resolving complex, challenging and urgent IT System issues.

What we need from you
  • Currently able to assist in the creation of documentation such as user manuals, knowledge base articles, training material
  • Must require experience in T-SQL, able to performance tune queries, and knowledge of SSRS and SSIS
  • Knowledge in .NET Framework, ASP.NET, C#, .NET Core, SOA/API Architecture, jQuery, JavaScript, CSS/HTML, Bootstrap, XML, Unit testing, Entity framework
  • Previously resolved IT System incidents and events, observing operational priority, impact and SLAs, in a timely manner, escalating where appropriate
  • You will have problem solving skills, honesty and integrity, an eagerness to learn and a high level of personal motivation, drive and energy
  • Able to focus on root cause analysis and resolution for re-occurring incidents and events and making long term recommendations and fixes
  • Able to demonstrate experience working with the development team, determining opportunities to improve application reliability and supportability
  • Regular completion of IT System requests in an effective manner, by understanding the true business requirement, outcome and suitable technical solutions
  • Delivering timely and appropriate communication to stakeholders and internal customers, providing acknowledgement and effective updates.
  • Previous experience of working within an agile software development team
