Our IT & Services Transformation Project is one of Softcat’s principle, strategic priorities. Centred around an Enterprise Service Management Platform implementation, the project will deliver end to end capability supporting both our customer facing Managed Services business, and internal IT Operations.

Do you have a passion for internal system landscapes and running projects end to end?

As Project Manager, you will assume overall responsibility for the project taking it through initiation, scoping and delivery.

As IT Project Manager you’ll be responsible for:

  • Establishing project team structure and communication plan, aligning approach with partners
  • Driving all Planning & Initiation activity culminating in a clear scope and delivery plan to take to business sponsors and stakeholders
  • Building, own and drive the overall project delivery plan across all workstreams – technical and non-technical
  • Overseeing partner delivery, ensuring appropriate measures are in place to manage performance
  • Managing and mitigating end to end delivery and business risk through continual quality assurance and review of project scope, solutions, plans, governance, risk/issues, resources, ROI and 3rd party suppliers
  • Overseeing IT design and delivery activity, tracking and reporting progress; identifying and resolving issues / blockers
  • Owning project communication and business change activities working alongside project sponsors and relevant heads of department
  • Leading Project Steering Committee meetings with Softcat Exec Team
  • Supporting the Head of IT Delivery with continual improvement activity – specifically around our Project Delivery Framework

What we need from you

  • Appropriate qualifications and applied experience across all aspects of Project and Programme Management
  • Significant experience with complex IT transformation projects at a medium and large scale (>£2M)
  • In particular, experience with ITSM (IT Service Management) projects involving Tier 1 vendors, e.g., ServiceNow, BMC or Ivanti
  • Strong people and stakeholder management up to C-level
  • Demonstrable understanding of business change principles and techniques
  • Experience working with Managed Service Providers (MSP’s) or IT Technology companies
  • Excellent IT literacy – working knowledge of ITIL, DevOps, API Architecture, BI and Master Data Management principles
  • Ability to manage and govern a complex scope, applying appropriate change management practice
  • Excellent understanding of all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle having worked closely with technical teams through Scoping, Design, Development, Test and Release activities
  • Strong Partner Management experience
