About the team

Softcat’s Services Portfolio Management function is in place to develop, introduce, improve, and communicate the IT services that we offer our customers. The role of the team is to bridge across multiple departments to ensure a thorough understanding of the portfolio is attained by all.

Your role

As the Services Portfolio Development Manager for Cloud, you are pivotal in the development and delivery of the services roadmap that you are aligned to. You will be the custodian of each service during its development and testing within the cross-functional, self-managing service development team, including preview release programme, to ensure that the service product is developed in line with the vision for it.

What you'll be doing

  • You’ll be looking after a service during the service development and test phases to ensure it meets its objectives
  • Responsible for communicating service development updates to key people within Softcat
  • You will be responsible for the prioritisation, delivery, and continual assessment of the service backlog
  • Have a thorough understanding of customer needs, the market, our competition, and future trends to feed into the services being developed
  • You’ll need to understand and articulate the vision behind each service to the service development team
  • Being actively engaged with the virtual service development team building great relationships with all team members
  • Responsible for the deciding the features of each service

What we need from you

  • Experience working within a similar Managed Service Provider business
  • Experience of working on fast-paced projects is desired
  • A massive appetite to learn and push yourself every day
  • Understanding of the agile approach to working and fail fast philosophy is desired
  • Experience of working in a highly analytical way to find creative solutions to challenges
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to present information clearly, persuasively, and elegantly
  • A good news sense and an ability to spot opportunities to improve through people, process, and tools
  • Ability to balance work priorities, organise own workload, work with minimal supervision, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and respond quickly to new situations and changing priorities
